Twenty20 test matches.. nah..I have a better solution
Twenty20 the phenomenal, it has made cricket administrator’s life a little different, one way they are sitting on a pile of cash to be made, another the classical needs to be preserved. This has forced them to think. And I am surprised that the best that they could come with is Twenty20 test matches. This could be nothing but two twently20 matches getting played between two team one after the another.
Twently20 matches tends to be close as difference between two teams , even it is there, it does not come out, as average difference in the score tends to be less than 15 runs. If you play two innings this 15 runs difference may not make a huge impact in 2nd innings and this is crazy.
My solution:
- Have a two days test match
- First innings to have 60 overs each
- second innings to have 40 overs each
In my mind I don’t have any doubt about test matches future, it will survive in one form or the another but one-day cricket is the one which will not. Because all the excitement that one day cricket used to give us in 8 hours span , we get that in 3.5 hours. Middle overs (15-35) tends to be boring.
60-40 solution will make sure that both element of Test matches as well as ODIs will survive.
Let me know your thoughts.
